Aksh Optifibre to invest Rs 150 crore for FTTH services

JAIPUR: IPTV provider Aksh Optifibre Limited is planning to invest Rs 150 crore over the next two years to strengthen its IPTV network in the country.
“We have initiated the pilot project in Jaipur where we intend to target 25,000 subscribers by December 2010 from the existing base of 3,300 customers. We will then replicate to model in other parts of the country to cross one lakh customers from the existing 30,000 in 22 cities in that time frame,” he said.
Aksh Optifibre’s IPTV partner Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has invested Rs 200 crore to set up optical access network in Jaipur. BSNL Jaipur principal general manager P K Aggarwal told ET that the telecom company has laid down 400 km of optical fibre to cover the entire city.
“The basic infrastructure has been laid down. Now, the Aksh Optifibre Limited just has to connect each home with the optical access network. We expect to get 10,000 connections by this fiscal,” he said.
