You missed the main part .
All the speed mentioned are at port speed.
And if you look at the bottom of the page it says

*Port speeds are on 1:4 contention ratio

All ADSL ISPs have contention.

Isn't it 1:20 for BSNL home plans? 1:4 sounds good.

The last time i heard from NIB Trivandrum, they said they have raised the contention ratio to 1:40.

What is really curious about this, is that it is another government-institution-based organisation, and yet it will, if it survives and grows, give BSNL etc unanswerable competition.

Must be some politics behind it, somewhere... but if, ultimately, it helps to bring our connections up in speed and down in price, then who cares what the politicians are up to! Laughing

^ You mean up in speed and down in contention ratio, effectively requiring no upgrade of bandwidth from the ISP and no effort (except advertising). Smile

I just hopped around their homepage and the "Apply Online" button attracted me. So i gave a peek and it shows all the states in our county for the "State" field with the default being Karnataka. Does it mean its available in Andhra Pradesh too?

See the second column in tariffs. ... 25p / MB on those plans.. anlongside "unlimited plans"...

256 kbps Unlimited Rs 320
256 kbps 25p / MB Rs 60 + usage.

1Re = 4 MB.
They are charging Rs 240 extra... so if we download 4*240 = 960 MB then unlim plan = the other....

If you download more it wil be costlier...

Wonder why we have a 960 MB "limit" here... sounds fishy.

Dear Mr. Agarwal,

Warm Greetings from RailWire!

This is w.r.t.your recent online enquiry with RailWire (appended below).

We are glad to receive your enquiry.

Pune will come under our pan-India rollout plans. From the customer care desk, we don’t have good visibility into the exact dates/timelines. However, you could expect us to reach pune towards the latter half of year 09.

He he he... Only the reply is very much polished... I have inquired in May 2008. The service is available barely 6 KM from my home. Even today the same response. They have not expanded even 100mtrs from their pilot coverage area.

somebody from hisar, gujrat also put up an online petition for its services sometime back

www.petitionspot.com/p...s/RailWire

the point to take here is that 110 people have already signed up for that petition.
