I believe its hosted in USA, and i think vinu had made some kind of deal with byethost.
Anyways,thats a pretty good job.

The servers are hosted in the US - can't possibly give out space in India with the atrocious rates of connectivity here
as leomax mentioned, this is a tie up with byethost.
The hosting is free as long as the parent service is active - so don't worry about it being a limited offer. It's to help out people looking for hosting services to develop their projects or sites but can't find a good one.

The cash inflow is through advertisement. there will be an ad on the site, at the bottom of the page - don't worry, it'll be an inconspicious google ad, and nothing too distracting.

If you want a paid hosting without the ads at a later point of time, you can upgrade your package to one of the paid ones (http://s.vinuthomas.com/paidplans.php) when your site/project actually takes off
