hello fellas..

there is this problem im lookin to seek solution to for the past few days...now the thing is when i switch on my pc and connect to my bsnl dial up setting on my desktop furthur on connecting my uTorrent client what happens after 15-20 minutes is a message that i get sayin :-> `Generic Host Process for Win32 Services has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience`.

i really dont know what this problem is all about...what it actually does is it stops my broadband irrespective of i select on `send error report` or `dont send` ....i have also tried not to respond to the message and leave it as it is...but no luck,it automatically disconnects my internet connection on its own....the real problem is i cannot reconnect, when i try to click on the dial up icon it doesnt appear at all....does anyone know what exactly could be the problem here ?!?!

Help will be much appreciated.

thanx in advance
skankypanky

p.s. certainly my pc is on and i can go through my drives the only problem is internet connection thats not available.

yep it happened to me as well. Like all good windows users i had to re-install the crap OS. If you are using a legit copy of windows then make sure your copy is up-to-date with their numerous updates. If you are not using a legit copy then I suggest its time you give Linux a try.

This is a known issue for win32 services (svchost.exe) to play up. Furthermore the problem is linked with Winsock. Download the patch from Microsoft first

You will also need the winsock repairer which is available at this link.

Firstly install the microsoft patch, restart your computer then run the winsock repairer. Please download the appropriate files for your operating systems. Before applying these patches you should be aware that some of your network settings may be reset. This problem occurs seemingly randomly. To minimise the impact, make copies of your hosts file, socks configuration and note your IP settings.

Make sure you restart your computer everytime you are asked to (generally after every patch) otherwise something can go wrong.

My windows internal firewall has been disabled since installation.. i am using the free version of `ZoneAlarm' hence I can safely say that the inbuilt firewall of windows is *not* the culprit

dada....i never said that windows firewall is absolute required. What i meant was that firewall must be turned on...it doesnt matter what firewall u choose. And this error do comes after some certain update from microsoft.

One of the big problems of Windows is the inability to say that one can safely say that xxxxx is not the problem!

Because, sometimes, it is combinations of things that trigger an error.

So One person can blame X, another can say X works for them --- and both be right.

If still any problems after pupudada's fix.... try setting up the modem in router mode and not doing the PPoE on the PC.

Just an idea.

A shot in the dark. Otherwise known as 'Windows support"! Wink
