For West US (Los Angeles), I get high speed, but not for east US (eg NY). This is due to routing. Do a traceroute if you can and check.

At last it has made it inot the newspapers.
New Indian Express is reporting today that, since the 'upgrade' many users are getting very poor speeds.
BSNL talking some rubbish about too many users at a time, speeds better mornings and night...
They are also saying that international speed problems will be fixed 'in three weeks'

yeah..... now we have had the 2 mbps for more than one month.......so its fair to pass some kind of an opinion now. most of us are unanimous that the download speed has increased but the browsing speed has taken a turn for worse. i used to get ping times in the range of 200 ms.....now i get in the range of 400-500 ms for bulk of time.....so we have got download speed at the cost of browsing speed.....

Speeds are good in the mornings and continues till the evenings...after 10 PM the speeds get worsened..and during the free hours it gets terrible...this is the current scenario..and surprisingly the pings are very good at close to 300ms for US sites...

Sorry about no link... it was in yesterday's (Sat 3 Feb) New Indian Express City Express section for Chennai under the headline BSNL Broadband spped slows down. Google isn't delivering on that, and I can't seem to get anything from the Express site except today's paper.

Dear Friends,
I'm using 900ul plan. Today after resetting my modem & surprisingly I'm getting 1042 kbps speed. What could be the technical reason?
Thanks & Regards

Do not bother about technical reasons. I have been getting downloads speeds of almost 2048kbps from the second week of Jan on my UL plan. Do not botter your head about it and just take it at no extra cost

Do you all see any improvement in the bandwidth ? I do test everyday and for the past 2 weeks, am almost getting a stable 45-90 KB/s bandwidth (Am on 512 kbps). When downloading from Rapidshare, sometimes the speed spikes up to a steady 120 KB/s. Although it's still not a complete recovery, it has improved a lot !
