Well I think with a connection like that at home... we'd have a whole bunch of Empires of differnet things, let alone metal.

BTW... any Korn or Rammstein?

If you want to follow this up... head towards The Lounge.

@ Guest... What is that that you did to fix the problem?

Got a new cable or just had the existing one patched up correctly?

wouldnt you be if you followed some queer's advice and formatted your hdd only to find out later that all you had to do to solve the problem was to pay your linesman 100 small ones?

True, very true... but still... conduct is important here Ax as with any other public discussion forum... We all loose it every once in a while but you just gotta suck it up... Proper conduct is what holds the place together... no matter how ridiculous some suggestions might be.

Don't take it the wrong way...

no offence anoop but someone's got to put the foot down. i just shudder at the thought of the poor hapless soul formatting his drive. and about conduct well i dont think i've crossed any limits yet. yeah... i can get nasty with words if i wanna but

but still... conduct is important here as with any other public discussion forum... We all loose it every once in a while but you just gotta suck it up... Proper conduct is what holds the place together... no matter how ridiculous some suggestions might be.

well, i had disturbances in my line, this was due 2 the heavy rain here, i have a joint which is in the open & due 2 the rain disturbances came.

i called up the bsnl guys & they checked for the line condition & repaired the problem.

as guys suggested less the number of joints, higher would b the SNR value, so i told the guys 2 replace the whole cable, which they aggered as i talked 2 the senior officer whom i know, hopefully the SNR values would increase too.

the SNR values at present are upstream/downstream - 18 db/35 db.
the attenuation values at present are up/downstream - 12 db/18.5db.

Hope all this increase after the cable change within few days.

i have a 384kps plan the download speed i get is on an average 43kps, a small question here, would this speed increase after the cable change?????.

well, on the whole the problem had nothing 2 do with the computer....

thanks, once again for the help......

p.s note advice here is always tried it depends whether it works or not, so don't feel thanks was 2 just flatter u out...
