what model speakers do u have ? r they in good condition?
I too faced similar low audio issues but solved them by installing media player classic that comes with KLE Codec.
There is a setting in View Menu- Options - Internal Filters - Audio Switcher. Try the setting Normalize, Regain Volume and Boost
The Boost slider option really works wonders in increasing the volume.
Try this - KLE Codec Pack - www.filehippo.com/down...odec_pack/
around 15mb and works like a charm

On further trial, I singled out the issue - Most of my media files are xvid and mp3 encoded (low-res movies). Those files sound find but i have a few files which are h264 encoded and audio codec is either ac3 or DTS. Even using the boost option in KLE, those are just audible enough, not anywhere close to other files. So i am wondering if those files will sound better on an external good sound card ?
