This thread is meant for queries regarding bsnl's dataone broadband, but but please do not request technical troubleshooting here. For that, use the "Dataone Users Troubleshooting Thread".

Stuff like ervices, questions regarding customer care, tariff's etc should go here.

So go ahead, and ask your questions here.

Can we make a call from pc through ADSL modem. logically it seems possible since it uses our own telephone line. but is it technically possible.

probably not, since the line is split before it reaches the splitter, not physically, but line wise

To make a normal call, u still need a dialup modem Wink. ADSL modems can initiate only PPPoE and PPPoA connections. You can connect the same line to your dialup modem through a DSL line filter (nothing but a low pass filter) and initiate calls.

My guess is that the splitter will not block these low frequency signals.

And its very much possible (through ADSL modem) if its voip.

Kiru yes i wanna know if i can make a call from PC to phone but using my phone line and not any internet calling cards.
May be niranjan understood what i meant. Niranjan do u mean i have to connect a dial up modem in the phone jack of the splitter and then try making a call. But as u see the phone jack is not free and is already wired to a phone. u must be thinking why i need to call from pc when i have a phone besides me. but in my place the phone is not near the pc. i have attached a long wire to the jack and the phone is in another room.

You can use multipliers for the RJ11 jacks and connect as many phones as you want. But, make sure that you connect your phone line to the phone end of your multiplier. Never connect your phone or modem to the line directly, this will affect your adsl connection drastically.
Refer to your mt880 or mt800 modem manual for connection diagrams.

(We can pull this off this thread if its out of context.)

Hello,

I am researching BSNL Dataone and my concerns extent beyond the datacap. What I am worried about is the routing of data to Singapore. I am into online gaming and having a low ping helps a lot. So can anyone tell me how BSNL DAtaone performs in that area? I play Counter Strike : Source.

If someone can download HLSW (ftp://www.hlsw.org/downloads/hlsw/hlsw_1_0_0_43_setup.exe) and give me the ping and "TRACE ROUTE" to 203.81.39.59 I would be highly thank ful. Once you have installed HLSW, press Ctrl + T to open the traceroute window and just post this IP address "203.81.39.59" into the top edit box and press Start. A screen shot of the result would be highly appreciated.

Yours,
