Hi all,

Wednesday, September 30, 2009: Orange Business Services, the enterprise communications arm of France Telecom, has received the Internet Service Provider(ISP) license from the Department of Telecommunications, India to provide internet services across the country. The company will be rolling out services through its joint venture company ‘Equant Network Services India Private Limited’. This license will facilitate Orange to expand its operations in India along with developing and strengthening its internet business.
In 2008, Orange Business Services had received the license from the Department of Telecommunications to provide national and international long distance telecommunications services in India. The ISP license, in addition to the recent OSP (Other Service Provider) registrations, will complete the license portfolio essential for providing all data related services including VOIP (IP Telephony) and broadband internet service to its enterprise customer base in India.
According to Sanjay Vig, CEO, Orange Business Services, India: “The ISP license will help us in expanding our licence portfolio and further strengthen our position as an integrated communications service provider. Additionally, it will provide a boost in harnessing opportunities in the field of Internet, broadband and other related services for our enterprise customers.
Orange Business Services offers a variety of connectivity and network related services in India. These include Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IPVPN), Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS), network related managed services and adaptive network solutions for enterprises. The company had recently upgraded its IP network in Asia-Pacific to deliver greater coverage, capacity, performance and resilience to its multinational enterprise customers.
The company today directly employs more than 2,000 people in India, serving more than 680 Indian and multinational clients, including Pfizer, Citibank, Standard Chartered, Deloitte and WNS among others. In addition, one of the three major service centers, supporting international customers of Orange Business Services is located in India. |
