TATA gives 2MB/512KB for rs299 night time and like rs10/hour. Except for the reliability its great value. The 512/512 comes to rs1500 which is not bad.

What about the others? Asianet is not even in the game here.

BSNL is not so good because their upload speeds are dismal. You need a min of 512KB upload speed.

Reliance says 600KB speeds, whats their upload speed? If thats also 600KB then they are better than RARA unlimited plans.

www.rcom.co.in/Communi...tpaid.html

I know TATA spiked their rates and their plans are not mentioned here now

www.tataindicombroadba...Pre_e.html

Any hope this year for something better faster cheaper??

Reliance seems to be priced higher than TATA from the plans i saw.

www.rcom.co.in/Communi...#post_flat

And it seems asianet has now banned torrent traffic.

evdo IF it works for you, is the best value/money so far, but that's a big IF. I myself am getting 20Kbps (yeah slower than dialup) to 0-2 Kbps (at office) here in Patna, at night speed is a bit better at 100 Kbps. But I've heard miracle stories nonetheless (of ppl getting 100KBps and downloading tons of stuff, wonder what that would be without torrent or rapidshare support)

For EVDO you need a special modem right for like rs6000?

I am not sure if any of the wireplans modems are interconnectable like DSL. ALL DSL uses the same modem so you can use the same one with anyone just like cable or dial up.

I am going to cancel my reliance wireless. Its unlimited and they said my rates came to like rs 400 and I didnt even use it much. Mostly because it has major problems when 10 people in the area use it so it might be great out in the boonies but not in cities.

What you people fail to understand is that internet is not = download speed. Evdo will not give you bad pings.. it will give you HORRIBLE pings.

Think of netradio / online gaming. ping of ~ 100ms is bad.... ping of 800 ms (evdo) is HILARIOUS.

Other applications including VNC / VOiP will SUCK .. TERRIBLY.

Please demand BSNL for better pings instead of 1000Gbps with a ping of 2 days

sadly despite having 3 different so called BROADBAND connections: i can only barely surf, so netradio, gaming etc. are distant dreams.

What are BSNL upload speeds now? My main reason for changing from BSNL was their horrible upload speeds which was enough to download things but not for sending anything even pics etc via email let alone sending files. Seems even the 3G wireless services give the same up and download speeds so why cant BSNL do that for broadband?

Netradio plays fine on a decent airtel 256 kbps unlim connection. Netradio is a bandwidth hog .. (takes approx 5 MB / 5 min or like 60 - 80 MB/ hour). If you like it, it will take away 600 MB daily (yes - i loved it!! i listed to it for ~ 10 hrs/ day. I still do)

Hence, try it with an UL connection.

If you have pings of > 200 ms, it becomes scratchy, and pings > 500 ms, its just BAD - no single song will be coherent ...

This is why we need decent pings to europe ...

Also, if you play vs people online ....(warcraft) you will know how annoying pings > 100ms are
