It has come back to haunt us. In troubled times as these, I feel that its appropriate to air these views here and have a consensus opinion. Meanwhile I wrote in something on this that I feel very strongly about.

I always felt that reservation should never be done.
Its time that we give importance to merit and hard work.
Though I do feel the reservation can be given only to those, who are economically and financially backward.
But apart from that, i feel reservation should not exist at all.
Because as long as reservation exists, i feel that Equality for All will never be achieved.
Its very demoralizing for the people who have worked so hard and who deserve to get whats rightfully theirs, to see that some guy who isn't even half deserving walks away with the gold and he gets to just look and stare and wonder at the stupid and corrupt system, that has been part of this country.

And then people talk about brain drain, when they are the ones who are creating conditions for the brain drain.

Also i think, if i have read correctly, it has been mentioned clearly in our constitution, that reservation be abolished with time.
Because if it isn't abolished, instead of helping people raise themselves, it would cripple them further and be dependent on the Crutches of Reservation.

Reservations was a good concept considering the reality of poor India but it has been converted to a vote bank politics. even the big Gujjar community is demanding reservations and the Rajputs.. even Brahmins in some parts of the country have been demanding for reservations.. what a pathetic situation we are in?? is there any regard for merit or talent ??

The constituion of India has become a joke.. It is every politician's birthright to amend the Constitution whensoever he/she pleases and upsurp political power and retain it for long.

i would not favour any sort of reservation. give free education to poor. richer pays taxes which is used after development of country, infrastructure, electricity, water, security & defence etc. some portion of it can be used for free education to poors.

after more than 50 years of reservation, all those backward people who benefited from reservation are now economically strong and they can admit their children in costly schools, buy costly books, arrange tutions for them so their children are more competent than poor backward class people and still they can enjoy reservation. that way poor backward class people has now very less chance of being beneifted from reservation.

how an caste based reservation can do any welfare to poors?

govt. can ask money from richer in form of taxes to bring equality in society to some extent and give everybody a chance to prosper.
