I have been having some strange issues of late with my BSNL broadband connection.

Most sites so not open, even the popular ones like Yahoo mail, gmail, google etc.

These sites show up with "hostgator" pages.

I think this has to do with some DNS settings. If anyone can shed some light on this it would be great.

I use the modem in a PPPOE mode. the modem is this "RT" something model. I forget the make. It is square shaped and creamy white in color.

I was also using these DNS since 2 years, but since a month or so they were not working. I had posted about it also here, And people had also posted the alternatives as reeDNS etc. BSNL had changed theDNS, please search for that post .
Make your pr DNS as 218.248.255.145 and see if it works.

for the record, i am a new BSNL user (as in a new connection) with IP address starting with 117.x.x.x

Would the DNS change for such an IP address?

Yes right, the same thing happened to me few weeks back as these DNS stopped working for me also. I had also posted about it earlier in this forum. Now changed the DNS to
218.248.255.145
as suggested by some in this forum.
