Since the website has recently been flooded with technical troubleshooting regarding bsnl's dataone broadband, i have decided to centralise a few things. All technical queries such as servers, setup, etc. should go here.

All questions regarding dataone such as services, questions regarding customer care, tariff's etc, and other things that non-current users ask should go to the "Dataone Queries Thread".

I shall be locking up the individual queries and questions one by one as they are resolved.

So go ahead, and ask your questions here.

broadband said to have been connected on the 13/14th last month,is not connecting all the time.it is a gamble to get or not.after much delay. your engineers have asked me to check up ethernet and explorer settings. my question is if there is a problem in any of these, how can i get connection sometimes? my opinion is that there is some problem in either the modem or in the sending of signals (i may not be technically right here)

Hi..

I Have 9 sytems with Win XP Service Pack 2. All the computer on my network is in good configuaration and working perfectly and also i am getting the interenet on all my system in good conditon.

Now I am using DATAONE Broadband service (1mbps).

My problem is ->

Whenever the power goes the ADSL Link will disconect and will take more than one minute to reset. (I know that the modem provided by BSNL is very sensitive device and a minute power fluctation will affect the device)

But after that my client computers will not get the internet until i reboot my server systm one or two times. ( in the server system the internet is ok)

My server is a PIII 850 with 128 SDR.

Can any one give a right answer to my problem?

I am expecting you can... PLease help me....

Dear Abhi,
i have unique problem with dataone, when i start my pc in the morning at around 0600hrs, i do not have adsl link in my router , hence i can not connect to net,
when i come back from office in the evening, adsl link is ON , and i am on net,
meaning data one is not available in night ... i was told by bsnl official that there is another guy who is having same problem but BSNL guys do not know what to do or where the problem might be,

@ Guest (Apu)

I don't think there is anything we can do for you. This most certainly is a problem at BSNL's end. You should pester them to fix the problem for you.

Bombard them with calls everyday or just disconnect their service and go in for another Service Provider (AirTel is a good bet if the servioce is available where you stay.)

I know how irritating it gets when unknown problems creep in that don't make any sense, but you just have to make the best of it.

Hi Guest,

I have heard of a problem of this nature earlier. I suggest you install Win2000 Server or any other Server specific OS instead of XP. I'm not sure why exactly this problem exists with WinXP but my opinion is that it has something to do with the lack of immediate refreshing in the XP TCP Stack.

I am running an internet cafe with 9 systems..
and I have the netconnection of BSNL Broad Band 1 mbps.
tat means my download limit is 20 GB per month.
But I am in doubt that i can'nt manage my download limit in 20GB
becasuse almost all my clients watching movies and downloading something. If this situation goes further then i am sure that i can't manage my downloading limit in 20 GB so
I would like to stop them playing online game,
watching/listening multi-media stream data (video,
movie, mp3, real, etc) and downloading big file.

Can anyone point out how to prevent them doing so?

I've followed all of the instructions as specified in the CPE manual. My ADSL router model is Huawei MT 882 and the OS i am running is winXP Pro.

The summary page on the modem's web interface shows up all the relevant information as it should (i.e. the upstream and downstream link speeds are populated, the SNR is above 10DB, etc). However, the WAN Channel information does not have the IP, gateway and subnet IPs populated (all are 0.0.0.0) Despite clicking on the PPPoE connect button next to the red "light" i get a message that says "Connection, wait for a few seconds" and i get back the screen with nothing changed (the light still remains red, and the IPs are still 0.0.0.0)

Has anyone else encountered such a problem? Why isnt the DHCP at BSNL allocating an IP to my router? My account is up and running, as i logged in using my username/ pwd from a friend's ADSL line and was able to access the mail on dataone.in, so i guess the problem is somewhere between the ADSL router and the BSNL ISP gateway. Could someone pls help me out!!

Thanks in advance.

regards
Raghu
