Or else u try this

once u login to ur modem configuration click the wan button on the left side of the screen set values as given in the pictures given below

Download the pictures from this link
s17.yousendit.com/d.as...LSOCQB2F65

One important thing i forgot to ask

IS the all led lights in the modem r steady except the status led(second one).Let me know this first. First confirm this before enter the configuration page.

If there is still problem i will save my confugration as file and will send it to u.U then jsut can set that file as ur configuration.

Hi buddy,

Thanks a million for replying. I was really breaking my head for nearly a month for configuring this.

All the LED's expect the status LED are steady and the status LED is blinking.

I have runned the Wizard for more than 50 times but is not working for me.

I have just downloaded the files that you have attached. I will configure it manually as you have said and will let you know the status

BTW in the file you have shown that the PVC0 is disabled. and i will disable it and should PVC1 be enabled or disabled?

for me both PVC1 and PVC0 are enabled.

and once again that you very much buddy for replying.

Hi Ashok,

I have tried setting the values as it is there in the screen shots that you have sent. Even then i am getting the same 678 error.

But the LED's are blinking correctly.

It would be really helpful if you could save your configuration file and send it to me, so that i can load my setting from that file.

Once again thank you very much buddy for the help.

Hi sundar,
Where r u getting the 678 error. U won't getany error number in DSL 502 T,even if there is network problem.U can know that there is problem in connection only through log files. The log files will give u an idea of the problem. To view log file go to Status>Log.

I guess that u have created an accoun in the network connection and tried to connect from there as we do for dial-up connection. This is not the procedure. You just fill up the Wan page and apply the settings. And be sure to put the username as username@dataone.

Regarding the PVC0 u just enable it. Intially i have enabled, then i disabled it to see if there is any change. Also go to ADVANCED TAB from ther go to PPP. On that in teh CONNECTION SEtTING check whether the always on connection is enabled. Under that u will have ATM VCs Lists. In that u should have the following row.

1 PVC0 0 35 PPPoE .

One more thing have tried to connect thru USB.

If nothing works out try this.

1> Reset the modem by pressing the reset button on the back of the modem.

2>Restart teh system.

3> Go to the configuration page
Don't use the wizard

4> Go to the WAN settings

PVC Pvc0

VPI 0

VCI 35

WAN Settings

Select PPPoE/PPPoA

Username Username@dataone
Password
Connection type PPPoE LLC

MRU 1492

Enable the next 2 things

ATM

Service Category UBR.

Atlast click apply.

Hope u get every thing right. I will reply tomorrow.

Hi,
I have replaced my Type I modem with the DSL-502. Everything is working fine till the place I have to assign the VLC. It is taking the VLC by default as 32. I have reset the router and then tried to change it - however as soon as I assign 35 it says VLC already assigned. I am planning to also get a wireless router with an inbuilt switch. Can anyone suggest a model.

Thanks

Hi Sumitip,

Don't worry it will work when u set it as 32 or 35. It can take up a value from 32 to around 1000. So no problem

And regarding the wireless router, Netgear is supposed to be good. But personally i hav't used it yet.

Have a nice day

Hi Can you send your config file to DSL-502 advert @ ipem.org . I am trying to put the VCI = 35 by making the PVC 3. However this setting is not getting saved. I think it will be better for me to use a config file.

Thanks
Sumit

How does the MT880 ADSL ROuter (given by BSNL) compare with the DSL-502. I have ended up having both (but am still to configure them as I have not received my username and password)

No difference in working,
The advantage of DSL-502 that it has 2 ports ( one Ethernet and one USB) so 2 pc can connect simultaneously without using HUB/ Switch.
But the current firmware of DSL-502T is not allow to set date from web interface , so it always need to set from command line using telnet. No ntp server enabled. So after each restart of Router Date / Time lost. ADSL Line synchronization is faster that MT880 on startup.

But in MT880 there is NTP server facility available so it updates its date / time just after connected to Internet.

There is some differences in Web Interface but that is not much important.
Both can works in Bridge mode (need to create dialup connection on pc using PPPoE), PPPoE mode, alway online.
If I also consider the price RS. 1200 for MT880 (provided by BSNL ) and DSL-502 is about Rs. 2100 then MT880 is recommended by me.
