BSNL is giving GPRS connection at following rates:

prepaid: Rs 0.02/KB
postpaid (Plan-50): Rs 50 + Rs 0.01/KB (5MB free)
postpaid (plan-200) Rs 200 unlimited

roaming in all plans: Rs 0.02/KB
MMS @ Rs. 3/-

i think it to be still too high charges for prepaid customers.

see : www.bsnl.co.in/newsdet...ews_id=302

earlier rates ( Oct 2004 ) : www.bsnl.co.in/newsdet...ews_id=164

but the speed of bsnl gprs is very very poor. I am using the unlimted plan in corporate option getting maximum speed of 20-30 kbps. So look before you leap. Also one more thing bsnl gprs is not available throughout the circle. in rural areas the connectivity fails.

The new plan is a lose for existing unlimited postpaid customers. Earlier they were paying Rs.349/-p.m for unlimited GPRS+unlimited MMS, while now they have to pay Rs.199/- p.m for unlimited GPRS minus MMS, for MMS the customers have to pay Rs.3/- per each. Earnings for BSNL=Loss for Customers!!

earlier, free MMS was for some limited period. i was charged for every single MMS in 349/- plan in 2006.
now bsnl has also provided some free MMS for limited period, check news flash at bsnl site for detail.

Increase in the postpaid and prepaid unlimited usuage by 50/ rupees is offered as/promotional offer(?)
actually after converting many BTS to edge/3G enabled the GPRS offerred to 2G customers are now having increased speed, so they want to increase the charge of unlimited//however usuage charges are slashed as to 0.01 paise for 100kb
